Sandy is taking her time arriving. She is supposed to hit around 2pm today. So far, we have just had really heavy rain. It is hard to capture in pictures, though. The sky is a flat, harsh white and everything is drenched. The urban areas will likely fare well, it is the rural areas that are in danger, mostly from flooding and landslides. We are under curfew, which is implemented to try to prevent people from looting when the power goes off and alarm systems don’t work. Although there are still brave souls out driving around. We will likely lose power soon, but so far we have been lucky. Until then, we are all glued to our laptops (I even edited a paper for Odile, who is a journalism student at UWI) and now the TV is tuned to Family Feud (which is surprisingly entertaining). Good times.

UPDATE #1: We are losing power on and off. The winds are rising. It is a scary sound when they are strong- someone described it to me like a freight train passing by. That is about right. It is safe to say we are stuck inside for the next while. Stay safe fellow JAs.
