Sandy is long gone, she is heading towards the Bahamas now. It was quiet this morning, people were on the streets off to work later than usual. I ran in the garden of the Pegasus Hotel. The tops of two trees came down with the storm, and branches were all over the place. I ran into the general manager, who was taking pictures of the damage. It rained on and off all day but the wind is completely gone. Damage to most of the island appears to be minimal. Tragically, one man died as he tried to access his home on a cliff and a boulder fell on him. Power is still being restored to a lot of the island. Although it was a strong storm, it seems it did not compare to past events like Hurricane Ivan and Gilbert. People here continuously bring up these hurricanes. In addition to minimal damage, there seems to have been very little looting. There was a curfew, which is meant to deter people from stealing once the lack of electricity disarms alarm systems. Overall, people seem to be grateful and life is going on as usual already. This is a post-Sandy sunset. Enjoy.
