I had heard from a couple of people that some Canadians were in town for training with the Jamaica Defence Force. It also seems there have been more helicopters buzzing around lately. And now we know more! This story by Ottawa Citizen defence reporter David Pugliese (one of the country’s best reporters) takes us inside the training, which is apparently mutually beneficial. Canadian soldiers are learning how to survive in the jungle, and Jamaican soldiers are learning combat skills. Take a read, it is a cool story, especially because Canadian officials are usually so secretive about defence operations. This is a great amount of access.
