About Kate Chappell

"And all I offer here is the distilled poetry of my existence..." Claude McKay, Poet Laureate of Jamaica, 1890-1848 I have been a reporter since 1998, covering mainly business and politics. I have also capitalized on the many skills journalism requires to become an all-around communications specialist. In addition to being a professional curious person and communicator, I have a bad case of the travel bug and can't seem to stay put. Finally, I have put my skills to work as a volunteer in the community wherever I have lived. Now, follow me as I combine these compartments of my life in Kingston, Jamaica, where I am a writer, reporter, journalist and lecturer.

Juleus Ghunta on the BBC

There are a lot of inspirational speakers out there. Some move you to change your ways for a few days. Some get you to dream. And very few touch your heart with their sheer will to not only survive but thrive. This was the case for me when I heard Juleus Ghunta speaks seven years ago. I had just moved to Jamaica and was not even close to beginning to understand anything about this country. I’m starting to begin to understand now that I don’t really understand a whole lot. Anyway, Juleus gave me hope. As simple as that. For my time in Jamaica. For the youth. For life itself. And if we do not have hope, we have nothing

This is a lovely feature on Juleus on BBC. And check out my story on his book of poems here.

Forbes’ Top Ten Reasons To Visit Jamaica.

This is a pretty good piece on Forbes that manages to look beyond the cliched reasons to visit Jamaica. Check it out here

“Two Jamaica’s”

Is this paid for content? If so, it should be made clear.

It is a piece on “two Jamaica’s” by a travel consultant from Germany.
