It is a little chillier here than usual but nothing like the rest of North America. Stay warm.

We took a tour of the Chinese Gardens in Hope Gardens. The elderly guide told us the name of this flower but I didn’t catch it.

Family is in town so we visited Devon House for some pastries and ice cream. It was packed and lively.  Happy New Year!

Only in Jamaica? Apparently dancehall dancers need to be told to take it easy on their vagina. Overly vigorous moves are damaging them.  Check out the story here for more and for an example of some hard-hitting investigative journalism.

It is tough to find non-white dolls, but we found this one at a local craft store.

Butchering a pig. A country Christmas.

It was a lovely Christmas Day of traveling, family and airport pickups. We went from city to country to city with two babies, presents and lots of food.

This is an interesting piece in the Economist on the sugar cane industry and its decline. Jamaica gets a mention.

The end of the day. Traffic is crazy pretty much all day now as people prepare for Christmas. Trees are being bought, gardens wrangled and presents shopped for. Baking equipment is also flying off the shelves. Just a few things I notice around Christmas time here, even as my days are now spent mostly with my son beautifully attached to me.
