If there’s one thing I can say decisively about Jamaicans, it is that they pride themselves on their cooking. With good reason. Especially seasonings. You do not mess with seasonings. Witness this row over English chef Jamie Oliver calling something jerk. Uh oh.

We miss the very safe and inclusive playgrounds.

So much new construction going up everywhere, much of it Chinese-funded.

I wrote this piece for http://www.ozy.com, a relatively new outlet out of Silicon Valley. Their tagline is “News for the insatiable.” The piece was a pleasure to do, but I’m not sure I conveyed what I have been witnessing in the last few months in terms of seeing more tourists here in Kingston, as well as the tension between the “two Jamaicas”. A lot can get lost in the conception to the final product.
