Transparency International has released the results of a survey that reveal a low level of trust amongst the public of its police and politicians. This is not really surprising news. 86 per cent of respondents (out of 1,003 people surveyed) believe that political parties are affected by corruption, while 85 per cent believe the same about police.

The legislature is slightly better at 74 per cent, while 36 and 30 per cent don’t trust businesspeople and the media, respectively.

On a more positive note, Jamaica rated high on the Human Development Index.
