WMW Jamaica is hosting a forum today called “The Impact of Media Reporting on Violence Against Women in the Caribbean”. The lecture addresses gender-based violence, its causes and possible solutions. Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Jamaica, Olivia Babsy Grange gave a speech on the subject, and announced that a bill on sexual harassment has just been completed and will go before a vote shortly.

The forum and subject are always timely and relevant, unfortunately. And as a member of the media, I’m always cognizant of how I portray women and children in stories. It is a work in progress.
