Not back to school

Most children are back at school now. This young boy was wiping windows near Devon House. He was dancing in between jobs. I used to report these instances to the authorities when I saw them, but now am not so sure this is beneficial.

A marathon in the city

The Guardian has a first-person account of the Kingston City Marathon. It is a nice course, which I have run, that is now a full marathon after being a half for several years. The piece also focuses on other things to do in the capital and u north. Check it out here.

“A grassroots effort to bring Jamaica’s coral reefs back from the brink”

This is a nice photo feature from the Washington Post on the effort to bring back Jamaica’s reefs.

The use of styrofoam was also banned as of Jan. 1, 2020. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. For the most part, people are following the ban of plastic bags, although there are still plenty of plastic products floating around, like plastic bags that come with packaging, as well as plastic bottles and containers. At least it’s a start…

Happy New Year!

I bought this painting at a craft fair over the weekend. The artist is a teenage boy named Martin Thomas. He had a table with dozens of beautiful pieces. The people helping him with sales explained he is autistic. I intend to buy more from him.

Congratulations Miss World Jamaica
