Removed post

I removed my reblog from Annie Paul about the Edna Manley lecturer, as someone rightly pointed out that she named the accused in her post. While Jamaican law is clear, I don’t want to risk a defamation suit.

Traffic violations

Taxis and coasters continue to ignore basic traffic rules like not driving into opposing traffic.  I see it everyday driving the kids to school. Sometimes police are stationed to catch the perpetrators, but as soon as they are gone, it begins again. It is so dangerous and will eventually end up in a terrible accident.

Trashed Hope Gardens

This is a bamboo tree at Hope Gardens. It is so beautiful there but there is so much garbage. Even with garbage bins, people still throw their trash everywhere. And the bibs are all overturned. I took the kids yesterday and spent much of the time running after them trying to stop them from picking up trash. It is such a shame as it is an oasis in the city accessible to everyone.

Low inflation🎼🎼🎼

This is Jazz III, a singer who performed yesterday for the Bank of Jamaica’s confeeence on inflation. The jingle espouse low inflation as a plank of a strong economy.

“Jamaican scientist seeks to bring back ganja weed”

This is a nice story from Agence France Presse. Three young reporters visited Jamaica last month to write a story about the Reggae Girlz, and also did this story. I met up with them briefly and gave them tips about how to navigate Kingston and where to take shots. Enjoy!

BOJ’s “Vision”

IMG_1653

I visited the Bank of Jamaica last week for a meeting. This is some kind of a bus illustrating the government body’s vision. It is never easy to translate dry policy like this to the average person, who is more worried about how much money they have in their pocket.
