Welcome Ms. Peters!

Many years ago, when I was a young, green and naive reporter, I covered municipal politics in Ottawa, Canada. This included coverage of the National Capital Commission, a federal regulatory body. Which meant I interviewed a public relations officer named Laurie Peters. I remember she was always a pleasure to interview, very professional and patient with a young reporter who was convinced she was always on the verge of a huge scoop.

Fast forward almost two decades, and Ms. Peters is now the High Commissioner-designate in Kingston, Jamaica. It’s a very small world, indeed. We have connected, and delightfully, the Canadian High Commission will participate in an event at the University of Technology in a couple of weeks.

Welcome, Laurie! Hope Jamaica is treating you well so far. She was also welcomed by Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Senator Kamina Johnson Smith yesterday in a ceremony.
